Leanardo Da Vinci - Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. At the age of 14, da Vinci began apprenticing with the artist Verrocchio. By the age of 20, he had qualified as a master artist in the Guild of Saint Luke and established his own workshop. Florentine court records show that da Vinci was charged with and acquitted of sodomy at the age of 22, and for two years, his whereabouts went entirely undocumented. Da Vinci's most well-known painting, and arguably the most famous painting in the world, the "Mona Lisa," was a privately commissioned work although The painting was never delivered to its commissioner.
Michelangelo - Michelangelo Buonarroti was born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese, Italy. His mother died when he was 6, and his father initially did not approve of his son’s interest in art as a career. At 13, Michelangelo was apprenticed to painter Domenico Ghirlandaio. Michelangelo was a sculptor, painter and architect. His work demonstrated a blend of psychological insight, physical realism and intensity never before seen.
Raphael - Raffaello Sanzio, called Raphael, was born on April 6, 1483, in Urbino. His father, Giovanni Santi, was a painter and doubtless taught Raphael the rudiments of technique. Santi died when his son was 11 years old.
Jan Van Eyck- Born 1390 and died 1441 was a Flemish painter active in Bruges and one of the most significant Northern Renaissance painters of the 15th century. Van Eyck painted both secular and religious subject matter, including commissioned portraits, donor portraits and both large and portable altarpieces.
Sandro Botticelli- Born 1445 and died 1510 was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance. He belonged to the Florentine School under the patronage of Lorenzo de' Medici. His work has been seen to represent the grace of Early Renaissance painting. Among his best known works are The Birth of Venus and Primavera.
